Event Recap: Indie Music Matters – Music Video Seminar
On Thursday, July 10, The Los Angeles Film School and ChazBo Music hosted an exciting panel in our Main Theater about the business of music videos. Indie Music Matters:Making Moves with Music Videos was moderated by Dae Bogan and featured Industry Author Bobby Owsinski, FullScreen Talent Manager Daniel Rosen, Music Video Director Ethan Lader, FullScreen Network Manager Jeff Ponchick, The Uprising CEO Jeff Nicholas and The Complex Group Co-Founder Nils Gums!
The seasoned industry professionals discussed how an indie artist should navigate the world of social media while developing their independent sound and brand.
No matter what the challenges an artist and director face when producing a music video, financial or otherwise, Nicholas stressed that the audience should still be able to appreciate the asthetic they accomplished to compliment the song.
“If you’re working with barely any budget, that’s fine. That just means you have to be creative. No one watching should think you were strapped for cash.”
The panel also made it clear that starting out in the music industry means expecting the unexpected.
“Change is the only thing you can count on. Once you embrace that, the whole process is a dance.”
The Los Angeles Film School thanks all of the panelists as well as Dae Bogan and ChazBo Music for bringing this great event to our school!
