Film Alum Hannah Lux Davis Is Ariana Grande’s Secret Weapon
The Wall Street Journal Magazine has featured film alum Hannah Lux Davis in their latest issue. The director of “thank u, next” and “7 rings” has led a meteoric career, going from working as an on-set makeup artist to becoming one of the most prominent music video directors working today.
After graduating from The Los Angeles Film School in 2006, Hannah Lux Davis got right to work. She collaborated with lesser-known artists on their music videos, which helped Davis fine-tune her visual style. Over time, she managed to establish herself as a name in the competitive field of music video production. Finally, after years of hard work, Davis landed her first big break. In 2013, Hannah Lux Davis successfully pitched Republic Records to direct the music video for “Love Me,” featuring Lil Wayne, Drake and Future. This moment would begin a chain reaction of introductions, productions and successes over the next half of the decade.
Hannah’s career has continued to rocket in 2019. The film grad swept up five nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Bright and punchy with saturated colors and tastefully dressed sets, it is impossible to miss Hannah Lux Davis’ signature filmmaking aesthetic. She has directed numerous music videos for Ariana Grande, and across her work, amassed millions of views on YouTube. She has also worked with other chart-topping artists including Ciara, Machine Gun Kelly, David Guetta and Demi Lovato.
In addition to her music video productions, Hannah Lux Davis is now working as a director on feature films. Check out the trailer for Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, a critically-acclaimed YouTube Original documentary.
