Sir Lucian Grainge Joins the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Lionel Richie, Shawn Mendez and Justin Bieber were just some of the celebrities in attendance for Sir Lucian Grainge’s Hollywood Star Ceremony
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored Sir Lucian Grainge with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 23, 2020. You may not recognize Sir Lucian Grainge by name, but you certainly know his work. He is a London-born music tycoon and has influenced the careers of Amy Winehouse, Sam Smith, ABBA, Rhianna and The Rolling Stones to name a few. Sir Lucian is the chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, the world’s leading music company. He has held a spot of Billboard’s “Power 100” list as the most powerful person in music for four years in the 2010s.
Under the guidance of the Career Development team, seven alumni filmed Sir Lucian’s star ceremony in front of the Capitol Records building. Stephanie Renaud was the lead producer and worked with Angelica Reyes (Camera A), Jape Garcia (Steadicam op), Gabriel Oliveria (Steadicam op), Tatianna Gutierrez (Audio), Andulrahman “Abood” Albadsrian (Steadcam op) and Alejandra Hou (1st AC Camera). The alumni videoed the star-studded ceremony and interviewed the surrounding guests in attendance.
Lionel Richie and Shawn Mendez spoke at the ceremony and honored Sir Lucian’s legacy in the industry.
“First of all, as an artist, it’s difficult to be here because you have to jump through so many hoops, and then, on top of that, you have to have a hit record and you have to perform,” said Richie.
“The most important part about this is that you don’t just walk up here and pick up a star. You actually have to put in the work,” said Richie.
