One of Hollywood’s most recognized and honored entertainment marketing agencies, Create Advertising, has distinguished itself in the emerging and important new marketing arena of Virtual Reality. CreateVRand its parent company Create Advertising took top honors at two prestigious industry awards shows last week as the respected marketing agency earned Best In Virtual Reality, Based on a Cinematic or Television Experience for its “Can You Walk The Walk” VR project during last week’s Digital Hollywood awards ceremony. The company also won the Silver statue for Best Theatrical: Engagement/ Experiential at the Clio Key Art Awards.
CreateVR’s inaugural project, “Can You Walk The Walk,” was designed in to support the recently released Sony Pictures film The Walk, directed by legendary filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. It is an immersive virtual experience that invites users to simulate Philippe Petit’s historic and death-defying high-wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Petit trained for years to make his ‘coup’ possible; now virtual reality has made such a feat possible for the rest of us. The experience was designed for use with the PlayStation VR headset and was available for consumers to try recently at select IMAX theaters and a number of industry events including Siggraph and CineEurope.
At the Digital Hollywood Awards, the “Can You Walk The Walk” VR experience competed against four other strong contenders in the category including “The Avengers: Age of Ultron”, and “The Wall from Game of Thrones”, “The Sleepy Hollow: VR Experience”, “The Strain VR,” and “Wild -The Experience”. “The Strain VR” was also recognized in the same category.
At the Clio Key Art Awards there were four other submissions in the Theatrical: Engagement/ Experiential category including, “Ex Machina: SXSW Tinder Turning Test”, “Transformers: Age of Extinction”, “Interstellar”, and the “Minions Cinerama Dome Takeover”.
“We are truly privileged to have been able to develop this extraordinary virtual reality experience for The Walk for our partners at Sony Pictures and Sony PlayStation,” said David Stern, Owner and Founder of Create Advertising Group, which launched its VR division earlier this year. “Extending movie marketing in this magical way creates a unique and memorable bond between the consumer and the brand and we look forward to bringing more innovative VR experiences to the market very soon.”
In addition to the Silver award for the Can You Walk The Walk Virtual Reality experience, Create was awarded a total of 11 honors at this year’s Clio Key Art Awards including Gold for their Minions “Fifty” spot, Silver for their Beasts Of No Nation teaser trailer, Daredevilteaser trailer, “Fargo” “Balance” spot”, “Sense8” “evolution trailer”, “Sense8” “Sifi Cinema” spot, Get Hard “Madness” spot, and Get Hard “trailer 1”, among others.
