Film Grad Flying Lotus Receives Grammy Nomination

We would like to congratulate Film Grad Steve Ellison (Flying Lotus) for his work on the 2016 Grammy Nominated song, Never Catch Me, featuring worldwide music sensation Kendrick Lamar. Steve Ellison worked as a producer on this track, and has built a reputation for being innovative in the studio.
Steven Ellison is known is a multi-faceted electronic musician and music producer, known to DJ rap in Los Angeles. Over the course of his career, Flying Lotus has released five studio albums: 1983 (2006), Los Angeles (2008), Cosmogramma (2010), Until the Quiet Comes (2012) and You’re Dead! (2014), and has experienced growing critical acclaim over the years.
In addition to his studio albums, Flying Lotus has has produced a majority of the bumper music for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block. He has also contributed a variety of remixes for fellow Plug Research artists, including Mia Doi Todd.
In 2012, Ellison began rapping under the persona Captain Murphy, based on the Sealab 2021 character of the same name. Ellison kept this musical identity a secret for several months, finally revealing himself several weeks after the release of his first rap mixtape, Duality.
