Spotlight Oscar-Winning Screenwriter Josh Singer Shares Advice
Spotlight took home the Oscars for both Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture at the 88th Academy Awards. Josh Singer, who wrote the film with Tom McCarthy, shares some advice with incoming talent.
You may have heard of Spotlight, the film that won both Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay at the 88th Academy Awards. The air-tight dialogue and strong performances by Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber and Rachel McAdams helped drive the film to the upper echelon of critical acclaim and cultural relevance. Spotlight currently sits at 96% of Rotten Tomatoes. Josh Singer, who wrote the film with writer/director Tom McCarthy, worked for years gathering the interviews and research needed to do the film’s subject matter justice. He kindly shared advice to new filmmakers looking to make their creative mark in the video below.
Prior to Spotlight Josh Singer worked diligently in the world of television. Since graduating from Yale University, Singer has worked on several television series over the past decade, including The West Wing, Fringe and Lie to Me.
