The Revenant’s Oscar Win Predicted By Instructor
Brian McLaughlin, Entertainment Business Instructor, was interviewed by Sky News and asked about his Oscar Predictions. His eyes were wisely set on the star of The Revenant
Entertainment Business instructor Brian McLaughlin has experience in both the creative and business side of entertainment. He was invited to an on-camera interview with UK-based Sky News, and asked about the likelihood of actor Leonardo DiCaprio bringing home the Best Actor Oscar at the 88th Academy Awards for his work on The Revenant. Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for 6 Oscars over the course of his career for films including The Wolf of Wall Street and The Aviator, and has worked closely with veteran film director Martin Scorsese.
In a positive twist of fate, Leonardo didn’t leave the 88th Academy Awards empty handed. For the first time, the 41-year old actor was rewarded with a gold statuette for his work on the Alejandro G. Inarritu-directed film. In The Revenant, DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, an explorer who sustains grievous injuries from a brutal bear attack. After being left for dead by his travelling companions, Glass overcomes the elements in the hopes of reuniting with his family.
The Revenant has garnered immense critical acclaim, earning an 8.2 rating on IMDb.
