Brian McLaughlin Hosts PGA Round Table With Suzanne Todd
Brian McLaughlin, Entertainment Business Instructor, organized a round table event with the Producers Guild of America.
As an instructor in our Entertainment Business degree program, Brian McLaughlin is known to be inclusive and collaborative, sharing new ideas with his students every month. Outside of the classroom, McLaughlin is actively cultivating relationships, and bringing great minds together in the spirit of innovation. This year, he created a round table event, hosted at Lionsgate with the Producers Guild of America (PGA), and joined by Veterans in Film and Television (VFT). The Producers Guild of America is a trade organization that was formed in 1962 with the purpose of protecting and promoting creative producers through a multitude of resources, including health coverage and legal guidance. At the time of writing, the total membership of the PGA exceeds 7,000 worldwide. Veterans in Film and Television is a network of over 1,500 military veterans who are working in a variety of positions in the entertainment industry.
Among the guests at the round table were ten PGA members, as well as ten VFT members, where they spoke in a closed session with hit film producer Suzanne Todd, whose work includes the Christopher Nolan-directed film, Memento, Bad Moms, Austin Powers, Alice in Wonderland, Across the Universe and more. In total, Suzanne Todd’s films have grossed over $2.5 billion at the box office, and she continues to work on exciting new projects. As an effective producer in multiple genres, Suzanne has been nominated for multiple Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmy Awards for, If These Walls Could Talk 1 & 2, and won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Feature for Memento. For the round table, Brian McLaughlin hired Rich Gill, an Entertainment Business student, to shoot photos and video at the event. Check out some highlights from the evening below. In attendance as well was Lyza Heslov, who is in the process of completing Served Like a Girl, a feature-length documentary covering the lives of female military veterans.
