Dear Los Angeles Film School Community,
You may have felt the most recent earthquake north of Los Angeles County. Because of that, we want to ensure you are updated on vital earthquake procedures to help keep everyone safe.
Earthquake Preparedness Steps:
- Before an Earthquake:
- Make a plan for you and your family. This is the best way for you to begin your preparations. ready.gov/plan
- Ensure you know the safest places in each room (e.g., under sturdy furniture, against an interior wall away from windows). ready.gov/plan-for-locations
- Keep emergency supplies such as water, food, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, and extra batteries accessible. ready.gov/kit
- Familiarize yourself with the campus evacuation plan and know the location of emergency exits. lafilm.edu/campus-safety/
- During an Earthquake:
- Drop, Cover, and Hold On: Drop to your hands and knees, cover your head and neck and hold on to sturdy furniture until the shaking stops.
- If you are indoors, stay indoors. Move away from windows and objects that could fall.
- If you are outdoors, find a clear spot away from buildings, trees, streetlights, and utility wires. Drop to the ground and stay there until the shaking stops.
- After an Earthquake:
- Check yourself and others for injuries. Provide first aid where necessary.
- Be prepared for aftershocks and move cautiously.
- Follow the campus evacuation plan only if instructed to do so. Listen to official communications for updates and instructions.

A Message from The Los Angeles Film School – November 23, 2022
We’ve been successful at adapting our COVID-19 policy and practices with each change in the virus. Going into 2022, the number of daily cases and deaths were high, and we were dealing with mostly COVID-19 for which the vaccines had been developed. We cautiously monitored changes within the CDC, CAL/OSHA, and the Department of Public Health and moved accordingly in a deliberate and regulated pace. As of September 22, 2022, Cal/OSHA removed the term “fully vaccinated” from its required protocols and communication stating that vaccination status does not have an impact on contracting the virus. We’ve waited, evaluated, and found that our contact tracing bears this out.
Therefore, as of November 28, 2022, we are modifying our policy once again where being ‘fully vaccinated’ or testing weekly will no longer be required for access to the campus. The daily attestation will remain in place, as will badging in and receiving a wristband. We will continue to provide free testing in the following situations:
- Any employee or student who requests an antigen home test.
- Symptomatic employees, regardless of vaccination status and regardless of whether there is a known exposure.
- All employees regardless of vaccination status, who have had close contact with a COVID-19 case, except for recently recovered employees.
Additionally, we will continue to perform contact tracing, communication, isolation/quarantine guidelines and return to campus cleaning and sanitizing and reporting protocols of a known positive case on campus. If you are feeling sick or exhibiting symptoms, please stay home. If you test positive for COVID, please notify your manager and human resource immediately so we can determine any other steps needed to ensure the continued safety and health of all of us.
The last few years have been challenging for all of us and your ability to flex, adjust, and move forward has been greatly appreciated. We have all experienced the challenges together and all of you, both students and employees have stayed the course, even when you had to travel your path from a distance.
As always, we will continue to monitor our surrounding COVID-19 conditions, including local and state laws that can affect our policy and will update you with any changes in advance.

We wish you a wonderful holiday and look forward to welcoming you back in class on Monday, November 28. Enjoy your break!

A Message from The Los Angeles Film School – August 31, 2022
In support of The CDC’s recent update to further ease COVID-19 related restrictions, as well as the LA County Department of Public Health’s mask optional position — we are announcing an upcoming change in our COVID protocols. Starting Tuesday, September 06, faculty, staff, students, guests and vendors will no longer be required to wear a face mask as we transition to a face mask optional policy campus-wide.
Anyone who chooses to continue to wear a mask will be encouraged and supported in their decision to do so. The remaining current COVID-19 protocols are unaffected by this update: the requirement for a proof of vaccination or negative COVID test and the daily attestation form will continue to be in place.
As the CDC updated us on August 11, 2022: “Many people in the United States have some protection, or immunity, against COVID-19 due to vaccination, previous infection, or both. This immunity, combined with the availability of tests and treatments, has greatly reduced the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 for many people.”
We are thankful for your continued support of our students and one another.
A Message from The Los Angeles Film School – August 10, 2022
As the pandemic started in 2020, we have worked to provide an environment that keeps you as safe as possible while on Campus. Over the course of time, we have evolved to accept home tests for those who are required to test under our current COVID protocols. We recently explored and tested the idea of the School providing home tests directly to employees who are either required to or wish to test for their own well-being.
As a result, effective Monday, August 15, any employee or student who is required to test or wishes to take a rapid antigen test, can request one from Security at 6353 or 6690. You can take the test outside or in the lobby if you wish and wait for your results outside to avoid being on campus with a positive test.
Once you receive your result, on the result card:
- Write your last name
- Write the date
- Write the time
- Take a picture on your phone
- Upload your test result to the Test Portal on the Employee Connect site.
- A negative test will be approved
- You can proceed to Security to badge in and pick up your wristband, providing you have also completed the daily attestation.
As of August 12, Upside Testing, at the corner of Sunset & Ivar, will no longer be performing tests.
We remain ever vigilant and continue to monitor the CDC and the LA County Department of Public Health requirements for Higher Education Institutes for any changes or new COVID and now Monkeypox recommendations and requirements. Your health and safety are always a prime concern and we will update our policy and protocols as needed to maintain the safest Campus experience possible.
Welcome Back to Campus!
As of April 2022, The Los Angeles Film School welcomes all students back to campus. We have safety protocols in place for all students, staff and faculty to follow. This includes a campus mask mandate, vaccination choice policy, and health attestation. Students and staff can find the full vaccination policy as well as the health and safety guidelines on the Connect site. We would like to thank all of you for your diligence and cooperation that has allowed us to get to this point.
Always Be Creating

A Message From The Los Angeles Film School: March 23, 2022
Dear Los Angeles Film School Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Are you ready? I know that we are.
It is with joy and great anticipation that we officially welcome all of The Los Angeles Film School students to return to campus. Beginning with the April 2022 Term (04/04/2022), the majority of The Los Angeles Film School’s programs will be delivered exclusively from our Hollywood classrooms, labs, studios, and production spaces. Your individual schedule will be posted and accessible to you by end of the day on Monday, March 21, 2022.
We continue to prioritize the safety of our students and employees while being together in learning spaces for several hours at a time. Our current plan and policy are as follows:
- if you are feeling ill for any reason, please stay home. Students should contact their instructor. Employees should contact their supervisor.
- All must adhere to the Los Angeles Film School’s Vaccination Choice Policy (implemented in Jan 2022) in which every employee, student, alumni, and approved guest will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a regular negative test in order to gain access to campus.
- All must continue to wear masks, both inside and outside while on campus property.
- The School will provide face masks to those who need one.
- Everyone coming to campus is required to complete a daily health symptom attestation prior to gaining access.
- Each person that is cleared for entrance will be issued, and must wear a daily color-coded wrist band, as evidence of their clearance to be on campus.
Students: Further information is available at the Connect Site here
Staff and Faculty: Further information is available at the Connect Site here
If it has been a while since you have been on campus, I encourage you to stop by on either Thursday or Friday, March 24 or 25 between 10am and 3pm PST. During this time, you will learn the check-in process, upload your proof of vaccination or recent negative results documents (if you haven’t already), receive your student identification badge and if desired, take a quick tour around the campus. By taking care of these administrative tasks on March 24 or 25, you will reduce the time you spend in line for check-in during your first week.
It is difficult to fully express the level of pride and confidence that we have in you and your ability to flex, adjust, and continue to move forward. We have all experienced the challenges together and all of you, both students and employees have stayed the course, even when you had to travel your path from a distance.
Thank you for your partnership and your continued trust in each other.
As always, we will continue to monitor our surrounding COVID-19 conditions and will update you as we adjust our monthly requirements.
Looking forward to seeing each of you!
Welcome back!
Tammy Elliott
President, The Los Angeles Film School

A Message From The Los Angeles Film School: December 8, 2021
Dear Los Angeles Film School Students:
As we look ahead with anticipation and optimism toward 2022 and our full return to campus-based, in-person instruction, we must also remain diligent in protecting the health and safety of our campus community, and focus on our responsibility to each other and our community.
With deliberate consideration of the current conditions within Los Angeles county, the increased knowledge gained, and best practices applied over the past 20 months, and following the protocols established by many of our neighboring secondary and post-secondary schools, The Los Angeles Film School will enact a Vaccination Choice Policy for our students and employees.
Beginning on 01/03/2022 with the 2022 January Term, The Los Angeles Film School will implement a Vaccination Choice Policy requiring our California campus-based employees and our active on-campus students to provide proof of vaccination OR a regular, negative COVID-19 test prior to accessing the campus. This policy also includes our outside vendors, industry pros, partners, alumni and guests. This Vaccination Choice Policy will remain in effect until further notice.
Current students: more information, policies and procedures can be found in the “Return to Campus Guidelines” on the Connect site.
Vaccinated Students:
You will be asked to upload proof of vaccination documentation to a confidential portal on the Los Angeles Film School Student Connect site. This portal will remain available for all students vaccinated before the return-to-campus date of January 03, 2022, and thereafter.
Unvaccinated Students requiring regular testing:
Beginning January 2022, if you are an unvaccinated student, you will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result weekly, no more than 72 hours before you are scheduled to be on campus. Access to a confidential portal to upload the negative test will be provided to you beginning as early as December 30, 2021.
Students unable to be vaccinated or tested
If you are a student who is unable to comply with the policy, you should complete the Accommodation Request Form located here. Once completed and returned as directed, The Los Angeles Film School’s Director of Student Advising/ADA Coordinator will contact you to discuss the options.
Los Angeles Film School’s Student Vaccination Choice Policy and updated Return-to-Campus Guidelines will be sent to all on-campus students by Friday, December 17, 2021.
