The Big Winners At The 94th Oscars

The 94th Academy Awards ceremony was an unforgettable night filled with history-making wins. Alumnus Jason Beale contributed his post-production talents to Dune, which took home a total of six Oscar wins including, Best Editing, Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Score, Best Cinematography and Best Production Design. Every year during awards season, The Los Angeles Film School gears up for an exciting season of alumni recognition. We are proud to announce seven alumni worked on nine different Oscar-nominated productions which earned 38 nominations. There is no job too small when contributing to a film production. Our alumni showcased their talents in every area of film production from lighting and camera operation to post-production sound mixing.

It’s a new year and we’re rolling right into awards season with the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 9. Congrats to the 13 alumni who worked on 11 nominated productions. Although this year's award ceremony will not be televised or have an audience, we will be cheering on The L.A. Film School alumni network represented at the 79th annual Golden Globes.

The involvement of the production designer starts when they read the script with the director and sketch ideas for the style and location. Meet Up-and-Coming Film Director Alex Ferrufino

Before attending The Los Angeles Film School, Alex Ferrufino PA'd on various productions around Los Angeles. Each PA job he got led to another and soon Alex had enough experience under his belt to find bigger jobs while attending film school. His breakout project, Slipping Into Darkness, gained the attention of HBO Latino and won the 2019 Latinx Competition. Find out more about Alex Ferrufino.

Our Alumni Contribute to Emmy-Nominated Productions

We are proud to recognize the talented alumni who worked on Emmy-nominated productions for the 73rd Annual Primetime Emmys. More than 25 alumni from different degree programs contributed their talents to productions including The Mandalorian, WandaVision and Pen15. Alum Josh Gitersonke (Film 2007) was personally nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program for his work as Director of Photography on The Amazing Race. This is Josh Gitersonke's eighth Emmy nomination. He previously won an Emmy for his camera work on the Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special.
