Recording Alum Phillip Bladh Wins an Oscar for Sound of Metal
Alumni News & Interviews, FeaturedOscar-winning production mixer Phillip Bladh went to The Los Angeles Recording School, a division of The L.A. Film School in 2008. Now, in 2021 Phillip has won his first Oscar for his production mixing work on Sound of Metal starring Riz Ahmed.
Flying Lotus is Everywhere Right Now
Alumni News & InterviewsThe pandemic hasn’t seemed to slow LAFS alumnus Flying Lotus down. Not only will his music be featured on the soundtrack of Netflix’s new anime series Yasuke out Thursday, April 29, but he’s also collaborating with Pitchfork on a new Sunday event series. Flying Lotus will DJ Lord Jones Sunday Bath Sessions, which takes place Sunday, May 2, at 8 p.m. EST.

Jaycen Joshua (LARS 2003) won Best Engineered Album for Beck's Hyperspace. Jaycen also contributed to GRAMMY-winner Megan Thee Stallion who won for Best New Rap Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song (Savage).

Two of our alumni were personally nominated for Producer of the Year (Steven "Flying Lotus" Ellison) and Best Engineered Album (Jaycen Joshua). This is Jaycen Joshua's tenth Grammy nomination and Steven Ellison's third nomination.
