Grad Founded Evolution Film Festival
The Los Angeles Film School is proud of our film graduate, Sandra Seeling, for her work founding the Evolution, Mallorca International Film Festival. This thriving screening series has quickly gained traction internationally, and each year holds an event in our Main Theater. We are proud of you, Sandra!
MISSION STATEMENT
Evolution, Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) showcases innovative, provocative, socially relevant filmmaking while positioning Palma de Mallorca, Spain as a global destination for a creative community.
WHAT IS EMIFF?
EMIFF is the fastest growing competitive film festival in the Mediterranean. Since its 2012 inception, the number of films screened has nearly doubled, and ticket sales have tripled. In conjunction with its sister screening event in Hollywood, CA, EMIFF is becoming an international launching pad for promising new talent in all genres.
THE FILMS
Raw. Fresh. Edgy. Hip. Distinctive. These are the hallmarks of EMIFF filmmakers and films. The selection committee and jury look for films that feature real, compelling stories, a unique point-of-view, and emotional range.
Following screenings at EMIFF, filmmakers have received international recognition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Slamdance, GOYA, and the Milano IFF.
As an additional prize, all EMIFF award winners are invited to screen their films in Hollywood at the Los Angeles Film School, which puts them in contact with influential distributors, producers, agents, media, actors, and other industry professionals.
PROFESSIONALIZATION, NETWORKING, AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
EMIFF brings together up-and-coming filmmakers and established industry professionals over four days in a variety of settings designed to bolster partnerships, production, and community.
Attendees interact with filmmakers in the casual atmosphere of the Cafe Con Cine events. Nightly networking cocktails in local bars and lounges bring EMIFF into the community and allow attendees to foster professional relationships. Q&As with filmmakers, actors, and producers follow every screening, and EMIFF also hosts workshops and master classes on a variety of topics.
EMIFF is committed to developing a community of filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and audiences that flourishes long after each festival ends. This community is a collaborative environment in which attendees cultivate creative relationships in Europe and beyond.
SETTING
The beautiful island of Mallorca is the awe-inspiring backdrop of EMIFF, and the island’s history, as well its young, entrepreneurial creative class, infuses the festival with a distinctive flair. While Mallorcans are finding new ways to embrace and showcase their country’s rich cultural legacy, EMIFF attracts filmmakers and audiences to the island in celebration of the intersections between old and new, tradition and innovation, authenticity and experimentation.
