Oscar-Nominated Sequels Go Head-to-Head for Best Picture. See Our Alumni Contributions.
The Oscar Buzz is Back! Congrats to the talented Alumni who worked on Oscar-nominated and winning Productions.
We’re excited to share that 14 alumni worked on seven different productions that received 31 Oscar nominations!
Five of those alumni are from the Computer Animation Program at The L.A. Film School and worked on Oscar-nominated sequels Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water. Both blockbuster movies are in the running for Best Picture. For the first time in a long time, both the No. 1 (Avatar) and No. 2 (Top Gun) highest-grossing films of the year globally are going head-to-head for Best Picture, according to Deadline.com. This rivalry could aid in a much-needed rating boost for this year’s televised award show. We will be cheering on our alumni who contributed their animation talents to each production.
EDITORIAL UPDATE: The 95th Academy Awards aired on ABC LIVE on Sunday, March 12, 2023. We are proud to announce that 10 alumni worked on 4 productions that won 10 Oscars. Congrats to all the alumni from The L.A. Film School who contributed their talents to Oscar-nominated and winning productions!
