Valve Announces The VIVE VR Headset
Valve has announced the VIVE, a new VR headset created with partner HTC to enter the VR head-mounted-display battleground. The new device consists of a lightweight shell, two 1200×1080 displays, and a frame rate of over 90 frames per second. The latter detail will help to alleviate any disorientation while players use the device over long periods of time. The VIVE will also sport two controllers, co-developed by Valve, for players to use while navigating worlds in 3D space. The sensors included in the device, gyroscope, accelerometer and various laser based positioning systems, will enable players to get up and and walk around their room, experiencing what Valve is calling “Full Room-Scale.” The Vive has been announced for a Holiday 2015 release.
