In Reykjavík’s close-knit artistic community, the contemporary music scene blurs the lines between rock, pop, and electronic genres. Reykjavík Festival brings us experimental/electronic rock artists such as Björk and Sigur Rós, who highlight the creativity thriving in Iceland’s capital.
The installation will add to the Festival’s diverse visual art offerings that also includes designs by Siggi Eggertsson. Screenings of the film Driving at the speed of the Nordic sun, by Xárene Eskandar with music by Daníel Bjarnason will also happen continuously outdoors in W.M. Keck Foundation Children’s Amphitheatre, beginning at 9AM until 5:30PM for the public, and from 5:30PM until the end of the concert for ticket holders.
Join us for Opening Night of the festival, which will feature upcoming and established Icelandic artists such as Múm, amiina, Skúli Sverrisson & Ólöf Arnalds, dj. flugvél og geimskip, and JFDR, along with art installations by Shoplifter and a film screening by Xárene Eskandar.
All tickets are $25. Opening Night includes a pre-concert complimentary beer pop-up, courtesy of Iceland-based Einstök Brewery.
