Concert Tour and Management
Learn how to take the show on the road. In this course, students learn the fundamentals and best practices of tour logistics, concert promotion and production management basics. This course also dives into the operational aspects of touring including, public-safety guidelines, contracts, union regulations and equipment booking. Students learn what it takes to get a band or artist touring on a national or world-level upon completion of this course.
A&R for the Music Industry
This course focuses on developing listening skills through critically evaluating recorded music and live concert material as the basis for talent scouting to discover and develop A&R (artist and repertoire) opportunities in the music industry. Students explore the elements of music, music terminology, song structure, the acoustic environment, and individual perceptions of sound in a nontechnical way. Students also examine the historical significance of musical genres and styles with the intent to identify musical origins and recognize evolving music business trends.
Music Industry Marketing
Explore the various ways to market artists on streaming platforms, social media and pop-up shows. Students learn modern marketing strategies specific to the music and recording industry. A solid marketing strategy is essential to getting talent signed to a record label. Students learn how to produce a compelling marketing plan and sell various products and services through high-impact branding opportunities.
